General Botany Laboratory (BOT101L)

Description
-This course provides a comprehensive overview of the principles of botany. The term botany comes from the Greek βοτάνη which means pasture, grass, or fodder (which probably arose from the need to know which plants were suitable for livestock consumption). The course sequence is designed to walk students through an approximate phylogenetic chronology of plant evolution. This course will include a survey of the major groups of plants, algae and fungi, evolutionary history, classification, and life cycles. Higher plant anatomy and reproduction as well as the geographical distribution and ecology of the major plant groups will be discussed.
