Program Description

The Master of Arts in Theology (M.A.Th.) program provides an advanced and in-depth study of Christian theology, equipping graduate students for scholarly research, ministerial leadership, and teaching roles in church and academic contexts. The program emphasizes theological reflection, biblical interpretation, historical and systematic theology, and practical application of theological principles in ministry and society.

I. ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

Applicants must accomplish and upload all admission “CONTENT” requirements as specified by the Graduate School.

If a requirement does not apply, type “Not Applicable / PROMOTED.”

II. ABOUT MANILA THEOLOGICAL COLLEGE

Manila Theological College is a non-stock, non-profit, NGO (Non-Government Organization), non-sectarian missionary school founded by Korean Missionary Rev. Choi, Chang Hoan, Ph.D.

For nearly four decades, the institution has been committed to holistic Christian education, mission, and service in the Philippines and beyond.

III. CLASS SCHEDULE & CURRICULUM

The Graduate Curriculum Prospectus and Calendar are already available.

Students must log in to the MTC Learning Management System (LMS), open the Graduate Course Catalog, and access the subjects they are officially enrolled in.

All course requirements, schedules, references, and instructions are provided by professors inside the LMS.

IV. MODE OF LEARNING – SYNCHRONOUS & ASYNCHRONOUS LEARNING

The M.A.Th. program follows a flexible blended learning approach:

Asynchronous Learning

Learn independently at your own pace within a set timeframe.
Examples:

Watching pre-recorded video lectures (YouTube, Khan Academy, Bible Project, etc.)

Reading theological resources and writing reflections

Online forums and discussions

Submission of essays and research papers

Synchronous Learning

Engage in real-time classes with professors and classmates through video conferencing.
Examples:

Zoom/Google Meet lectures & discussions

Group presentations & collaborative projects

Oral defenses and seminar workshops

Live Q&A and consultation sessions

FINAL REMINDER

All instructions to complete your M.A.Th. degree are already provided in the MTC LMS.
To succeed, every graduate student must:

Be familiar with the LMS portal.
Enroll in subjects through the Graduate Course Catalog.
Submit assignments, research requirements, and final projects on time.
Actively participate in synchronous sessions and asynchronous tasks.
Follow all instructions and academic policies provided by your professors.
